It strikes me that Willowcreek grew so big in part because they were well-led and well-organized to handle growth. Those who go on mission trips come back and tell their mission stories because lives are passionately transformed to be like Jesus, especially those who go on the trip. If you’re looking for some leadership principles that are solid, relevant, deep, and easy to apply, this book is for you!
PMThe best leaders not only lead well but also reflect on their leadership long enough and thoughtfully enough to articulate the philosophies that cause them to do so. Read this book anyway. I thought Axiom was ok, but honestly, I felt like it was getting long towards the end.

However, I do not think it would be the best book to start with for novice or entry leaders because they would not be able to relate to the emotions that Hybels speaks about in those sticky situations and may require more explanations and more life experiences in order to get the most out of it. The difference between great communication and not-so-great communication often comes down to where you place the bad news.
Taken collectively it is a very practical look at leadership in the trenches. It’s a book I foresee myself going back to this book time and again to remind and check myself for mistakes and for improvements, I am sure it would be such a book for you too.
